Blake - Virtual Reality

On Monday Team Moana students were treated to an underwater virtual reality experience.  Annika and Alice from Blake - VR, an organisation set up in honour of our own Sir Peter Blake, shared their knowledge and personal experiences of life under in and around our local coastline.  We were treated to a magical encounter with Humpback whales, stingrays, dolphins and snapper.  We could almost reach out and touch the marine life swimming all around us.  It was truly amazing.  We were given the valuable opportunity to see both a pristine underwater environment - The Poor Knights, vs a very sad, polluted marine environment - under a local wharf.  This learning helped Team Moana students appreciate why we do not want pollution to enter our waterways and get out to sea as well as why we should only take from the sea enough Kai moana to feed our whanau.  Here are some pictures of us immersed in our underwater adventure using our VR headsets.
