That is what our last 4 weeks of term have been about. From our visits to Waitangi where Team Moana was split into 2 groups and each group spent 2 days at Waitangi Museum and grounds, exploring and investigating with Monika and Kerri the educators, we have continued to create using new devices and ideas for sharing and presenting work.
Our 2 day visit was fantastic - Monika and Kerri taught us about the Battle of Ohaeawai, giving us facts and information we could use to create a presentation. On the second day we not only had the chance to see the weapons that were used, we had time to practice using the devices. What a fantastic day we had, using 3D imaging, TinkerCad, Stop Motion, Green Screen and probably our favourite the robots and VR.
Everyone sorted themselves into groups and came up with ideas of what part of the Battle of Ohaeawai they would like to focus on. We had to write scripts, get our own resources and practice, practice, practice. When Monika and Kerri brought all the devices to our school the first day, we were not really ready and although we did a lot of filming and experimenting, our attempts needed to be edited a lot. The second day they came we were ready for them, we had done a lot more practice in class, we knew our scripts and were ready to create our presentation. Now we have a lot of work to do before sharing, we will need to go through and check, edit any mistakes, make sure we have every scene in correct sequence, titles and credits completed and then we will be ready to share - we can't wait to show everyone.  Here are some pics of our days at Waitangi and at school.

    Kia ora my name is Tuishaly and I go to Kawakawa primary school I'm a year 8 and I'm 13 years old, I really like that you are sharing your guys trip to Waitangi museum with us, when my class and I went to Waitangi my favourite part was the 3D painting and the Rv, I also liked how you shared the part you liked and disliked, maybe next time you can add more photos.

Hi everyone, I finally figured out how to access the class Blog so here is my update. I wonder what the temperature is in NZ? It has been 37 most days here, one day even got up to 40🌞 We have been swimming in the Indian Ocean, Persian Gulf and the Bay of Bengal - can you find them on the map? Sri Lanka was a very different place to visit, definitely not a rich country like Dubai, there are a lot of poorer areas, but it has beautiful beaches and the National Parks are great. It is really really sad to see all the forests being cut down though, there have been 35 people killed by elephants already this year as the elephants come down to the people's farms looking for food. There are so many people in Sri Lanka, over 19 million, and their country is smaller than NZ. This made driving on the roads very interesting, there are cars, buses, tuk tuks, motorbikes and bicycles going in all directions. It was like being in a car rally every day! Week 7 Term 1 Cricket Coaching

Kia ora 'Yippee!" we all yelled. It was a lovely sunny day at Ohaeawai School and we were all going out onto the field to have lessons in how to play cricket from a couple of professional coaches. They taught us all the basic skills first and then they taught a variation on the traditional game of cricket. This variation makes the game quicker and more exciting for children. We all loved it. Zoofari

Kia ora This week all of the Moana kids who hadn't been on a zoofari trip to Auckland Zoo before, got to participate in one. A zoofari is an overnight trip to Auckland Zoo where you get to sleep in the old elephant house where the elephants Burma and Kashin used to live. You get two guided walks around the zoo, one in daylight and one in the dark accompanied by zoo keepers who know all about the zoo and its animals. You also get some free time to roam the zoo with your teachers and the parents who volunteered to come along. On top of this you get a barbecue dinner and breakfast. Thanks to the generosity of Auckland Zoo, Ritchie's Bus Company and The Warehouse, all of this comes absolutely free! The only cost per kid is $10 to buy lunch and morning tea. So, 45 of us plus Mrs Henderson, Mrs Brajkovich, Mr Solly, Mrs Edge, Mr Palmer and Mrs Chamberlain zoomed down to the big city. We saw so many amazing animals and the whole trip was just marvellous.
