Speeches 2018
What an exciting speech competition we had this year. Everyone chose a topic they were really passionate about and this made for some very persuasive and interesting writing.
We had topics ranging from Oil Drilling to Bullying, Plastic Pollution, Pests, Trees and more. Everyone learnt their speech to present to the class. For those who did not feel comfortable doing this, they read to a small group or just the teacher.
We were only allowed 2 finalists to go through to the Kaikohe Rotary speech competition this year. Depla and Luke were chosen for the way their speeches were written, with facts and information but also some humour and fun things in there. They were also great at presenting their speeches, nice clear voices with expression and passion about their topic.
Lukes, whose speech was on Technology, came first overall - what a great achievement. We thought Depla should have been placed too as she also presented hers clearly and with expression and passion. Well done you two - I certainly hope you continue speaking in public because you have some great skills to get your messages across.
