Finding Mrs H

Well, it's Week 8, Term 3 2017 and Team Moana has survived two weeks so far without Mrs H while she is attending a family reunion on the east coast of North America. Two things have helped: Miss D is Mrs H's replacement and she has kept us real busy whizzing through a whirlwind of exciting and creative activities. These include creating paper mache planets, generating rainbow patterns by dissolving Skittles lollies in warm water, writing, acting and filming movies, and rehearsing songs and plays for assembly and Term 4.
Here are some pics of our Skittles activity.

The second thing that has helped us not miss Mrs H too much is the fact that we can keep track of her so easily through the blogs her companion Taiamai Ted has been sharing with the planet every few days. (Just  go to Ted's tab on our blog homepage and you will find these). So far they have travelled east to New York, USA, then west to Niagara Falls, then north east via the St Lawrence seaway route to Quebec, Canada. We got really excited when we discovered we could write a message in English, go to Google Translate to have it translated in French, and then post our comments to Ted's latest blog post in French!! We can't wait to find out if Mrs H and Ted can figure them out.
Meanwhile, our Canadian classmate Kirsten, who used to live in Eastern Canada, has been busy sending Mrs H the address and GPS coordinates of her old school and house as Mrs H may very soon be in that vicinity. Be sure to check in next week for Ted's latest adventure.

    Hey my name is Elizabeth a student at Wesley Primary school in room 3.I really like the experiment and actually we are doing colour and perspective we really like what you guys ra doin and we might do it. We are learning art with prspective and colours.It made me think of a time when we did art like this. Hi everyone, I finally figured out how to access the class Blog so here is my update. I wonder what the temperature is in NZ? It has been 37 most days here, one day even got up to 40🌞 We have been swimming in the Indian Ocean, Persian Gulf and the Bay of Bengal - can you find them on the map? Sri Lanka was a very different place to visit, definitely not a rich country like Dubai, there are a lot of poorer areas, but it has beautiful beaches and the National Parks are great. It is really really sad to see all the forests being cut down though, there have been 35 people killed by elephants already this year as the elephants come down to the people's farms looking for food. There are so many people in Sri Lanka, over 19 million, and their country is smaller than NZ. Zoofari

Kia ora This week all of the Moana kids who hadn't been on a zoofari trip to Auckland Zoo before, got to participate in one. A zoofari is an overnight trip to Auckland Zoo where you get to sleep in the old elephant house where the elephants Burma and Kashin used to live. You get two guided walks around the zoo, one in daylight and one in the dark accompanied by zoo keepers who know all about the zoo and its animals. You also get some free time to roam the zoo with your teachers and the parents who volunteered to come along. On top of this you get a barbecue dinner and breakfast. Thanks to the generosity of Auckland Zoo, Ritchie's Bus Company and The Warehouse, all of this comes absolutely free! The only cost per kid is $10 to buy lunch and morning tea. So, 45 of us plus Mrs Henderson, Mrs Brajkovich, Mr Solly, Mrs Edge, Mr Palmer and Mrs Chamberlain zoomed down to the big city. We saw so many amazing animals and the whole trip was just marvellous. Week 7 Term 1 Cricket Coaching

Kia ora 'Yippee!" we all yelled. It was a lovely sunny day at Ohaeawai School and we were all going out onto the field to have lessons in how to play cricket from a couple of professional coaches. They taught us all the basic skills first and then they taught a variation on the traditional game of cricket. This variation makes the game quicker and more exciting for children. We all loved it.
