Triathlon
Last Friday our whole school took part in a triathlon. Everyone was amazing. From Year 0 to Year 6s, everyone swam, cycled and ran as fast as they could around the courses set out around the school.
The Year 5s and 6s had to swim 4 lengths of the school pool - that was about 50 metres, then had to race up and grab their helmet, find a suitable bike, go out the school gate, around the roundabout, back in and around the school field then do it all again before going on a run around the back of the school. The run finished on the netball court with some fruit and a milk.
We then had some deliciously healthy hamburgers for lunch and amazing baking done by parents as a fundraiser for the Junior School Zoo Trip.
What a day! The Year 5s and 6s were so good at helping pack up and clean up that they had a free swim at the end of the day!

Kia ora team Moana,
ReplyDeleteGreat to see the photos of you all participating in your school triathlon. I used to do triathlons and loved training in all 3. I still do lots of running but not so much biking or swimming. Sam Warriner who was NZ's number 1 triathlete many years ago was a friend of mine and I got to go to the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and see her win a silver medal! It was pretty incredible! I wonder if someone from Team Moana will go to the Commonwealth or Olympic games one day representing New Zealand.

Hello Team Moana
ReplyDeleteWhat great photos of the triathlon. I was telling my daughter Emma that we had a triathlon at school last week. She was very interested as she used to be a good triathlon sportsperson. She represented NZ when she was 18 years old and now she works for Triathlon Australia. Next year she is going to be the team manager for the Australian Triathlon team at the Commonwealth Games being held on the Gold Coast.
