Elections 2017
Things have been heating up in Room 7. After beginning a topic on the American Elections, to see how they work and find out some information about the 2 main candidates, the suggestion was made that Room 7 should hold their own elections.
After being given the go ahead , everyone swung into action! Parties were made up, changes made, parties combined, then a coalition was formed - it has been all action on the campaign trail.
Voting will take place on Thursday 17th November. At this stage, with 10 days to go, there are 2 main political parties. They are the Native Party and the Unicorns.
They have shared campaign speeches in Rooms 7 and Room 9 and on Monday will be delivering their policies to Room 1. At some stage they also want to deliver their messages to staff as staff will also be part of the secret ballot voting.
The last week of building up for this campaign has seen some real live "dirty" politics taking place. This may have come straight from the tactics they have seen used by the American candidates.
However, after holding a Parliamentary meeting, guidelines have been set in place for future campaign talks and meetings.
There will be no personal attacks on other party members, no heckling during campaign speeches, each party must respect the other parties ideas and policies, even if they think they have been copied by them.
I am looking forward to this weeks campaign trail, to see what each party is actually promising as part of their campaign, what are they really going to do for their peers, how will they keep the promises they make such as free swims at lunchtimes.

Wow Room 7, sounds like your class is learning a lot about the election process, including what not to do. It is really interesting to read about how you are putting into action what you have learnt. I hope to read more about your learning process the next time I visit your blog. Will you be able to share any videos of the campaign speeches?
