Week 8
We have had such an exciting week that we have to write about it all!
First of all everyone has been working so hard on their speeches, getting the correct information, making sure it is in order, that it makes sense, that it is exciting and that the speech has a good conclusion. We had our class speech finals on Thursday afternoon, where 9 people were chosen to go through to the Moana Team finals on Friday morning. There were 20 finalists on Friday morning and that was narrowed down to 8 to go into the school finals on Monday afternoon. Only 2 from that 8 can be chosen for the Kaikohe Speech competition on Wednesday evening. Good luck to everyone on Monday!
On Thursday Anzac leaf kindly visited our school and gave us a demonstration on how to fly a drone - it was so exciting. He then took a group of boys over to Lake Omapere and used the drone to find out where the outlets were from the lake. This is part of their Inquiry into Lake Omapere.
Two groups of students took part in the LearNZ audio conference on Where Are We? This was a field trip based on using GPS and GIS on Land, Sea and Air in NZ. we sent our class mascot taiamai Teddy down to take part in this and he looked like he was having an amazing time from the photos we saw of him!
On Friday the Year 6 girls drew their netball game against the Kura - what a great day for it and a very exciting game - well done all of you.
I know there is a lot of sport on this weekend so good luck everyone - look forward to catching up on Monday!
