Week 4
What a fantastic start to 2016. Our class of Year 6s have settled in so well to the new learning environment. We are working alongside the Year 5s and are so fortunate to have Mrs B, Miss D and Mrs H taking groups and helping us with our learning.
Check out our Learning environment site on the Ohaeawai school site - here you will be able to see all our learning, timetables, upcoming events, Blogs- everything that is happening for Year 5s and 6s at Ohaeawai School.
Of course our big focus this year is fundraising for our ski trip in August. We begin with a possum hunt on the weekend of 12th / 13th March - make sure you tell all your friends and families to go out and shoot, trap, whatever, to get as many possums as we can for weigh in on the Sunday morning - there will be prizes!!
We hope you can join us for our hike up Te Ahuahu this Thursday - let's hope the weather is a lot better than last week. It is going to be pretty hot in this heat so make sure everyone is prepared with sunscreen and sun hats.
We have some great sports days coming up also - Ki-o-rahi at Lindvart Park on 3rd March. This will be a big challenge for us as it is not a game we play regularly, so we will need lots of support please. There are 2 teams travelling over - a mix of Year 5s and 6s.
The next week we have a Rippa Rugby tournament at Lindvart Park. We have 4 teams entering this competition - from Year 3, 4, 5 and 6.
We also have inter school swimming coming up and a lot of students entering the Weetbix Triathlon at Waitangi on April 10th.
Good luck to everyone taking part in all these activities - it is so good to see our tamariki getting out there, getting involved and giving it a go.
Looking forward to meeting with you tomorrow evening at our parents evening - please feel free to come along and ask questions about our new Learning Environment.
