Kai Teams
Thursday 5th November
We were set a 5 week food challenge. We organised ourselves into cooking groups. The first week we had to cook something from scratch using eggs, the second week rice, third week potatoes, fourth week pasta and the final week strawberries. We have used local ingredients such as farm eggs, local home kill sausages, home grown parsley, Bok Choi, vegetables out of the school garden and home gardens. Each group has had to research the main ingredient, choosing a dish from another country and then recreating it as best they can. The presentation has to include the original image and their own. It is taste tested by the teacher and then shared by everyone in the group.

Mmm "scratch cooking".A phrase I've recently heard. Good ole back to basics, what you guys are doing Rm 2. Good work! Be looking forward to fried rice for our dinner Tai!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing experience and so much learning Room 2! I bet you have tasted some delicious food and tried out some new things as well. I really like that you are making it from 'scratch', I try really hard not to eat any processed food and it is great that you are really thinking about what you put into your bodies too. You are so lucky to live in a rural community where you can source good quality local ingredients. Fantastic that you can access the school garden too. Thanks for sharing your learning on the blog:-)
